Leena Birdi

Spirited, collaborative, dynamic

Hello, I’m Leena Birdi, Co-Founder and Partner of Birdi & Co.

I’m an experienced corporate lawyer with a specialism in M&A transactions and company restructuring matters. But, I’m also a business owner and mother; so I’m used to juggling the million different priorities that are thrown at you every day, if you wear many hats. Sometimes I hear that song, ‘9-5’ by Dolly Parton and wistfully think, “imagine only working 9-5!”

A couple of things I’m proud of

Collaboration is everything

Successful deals require hard work, strategic thinking and meticulous attention to detail. But, they also require effective collaboration. I try hard to get to know our clients on a personal level, understanding their unique journey and aspirations. By aligning myself with their long-term objectives, and taking a personable approach, I think I can better serve their needs and help them achieve their goals.

Shaping culture and mentoring talent

I feel passionate about the need to create a nurturing and supportive environment within our firm. I believe that when people feel valued and supported, they can achieve incredible things. It’s not just about the legal work; it’s about fostering a positive culture where people feel supported and mentored personally and professionally.

Beyond the law

Over the last couple of years I’ve mentored young women in law, supporting mentees who may be struggling to break into or manoeuvre a legal career and guiding them through the challenges that females face.

I’ve also become interested in marketing; specifically through social media. I find it such an interesting way to speak to people. Sharing our firm’s journey allows me to document my thoughts, lessons and advice on the law and running a business generally. It’s a great way to connect with other like-minded people and if I can help someone navigate a situation I’ve been through, then that’s really rewarding.

In 2024, I was shortlisted for Woman of the Year at the Woman and Diversity in Law Awards 2024, recognising achievements in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion.

I was also shortlisted for the Female Trailblazer of the Year Award at The Access Legal Modern Law Awards 2024.

The word about Leena

Kush and Leena were able to expertly guide us through the complicated process of selling your business. They are very good at simplifying some of the daunting complexity of legal terminology into straightforward, understandable business language. When our first buyer fell through Kush and Leena remained up beat and positive.

Leena and the team were there to hold my hand at every step of the way. Leena explained the procedure at the start of the sale and was there to protect my interests during the whole process. She would work on my behalf at all hours of the day and even at the weekend to ensure the sale progressed smoothly. I can not thank her enough for all her hard work.

Google review: 5 star

I absolutely recommend Kush and his team, I felt fully supported throughout the process of buying an existing cafe business and he made it as smooth as was possible.

I can highly recommend this firm. Very diligent, quick, responsive on my matter.  Kush, Leena and Roberta handled my matter very fast, efficiently and managed to get issues resolved very quickly.
